Training and Rehab for Mental Health
Why and how does this connect to my work?
Training/Gym Space
When I worked primarily as a personal trainer it seemed most of the clients I was seeing were individuals struggling with some form of mental health issues.
As obvious as this is, I think it needs to be written. For people struggling with anxiety, depression or other mental health issues/conditions - It is really hard to get to the gym and then to feel okay to workout around other people. This can lead to WAY more stress, anxiety, and feelings of doubt around this process.
I see huge value in having individuals in a more comfortable environment, with less people and equipment where we can focus in and on the movement. Where they can learn and start to grow confidence in their body and feel the positive mental and physical effects. And then take what they learned and ease into the gym environment if that is what they want.

Someone’s stress levels and mood can play a significant role in someone's pain intensity
Injuries and pain can be a triggering event for people to feel depressed and scared of movement and anxious of doing everyday things. This can cascade to more issues such as sleep issues, stress eating or not eating, lack of motivation etc.
Some people come for chronic issues that can mainly be due to holding tension/stress over time in a certain area. Jaw pain, neck pain, upper trap pain, low back pain, etc. Overtime holding tension in these areas can cause a lot of pain and also issues with movement and muscle recruitment patterns.
